NSW Metropolitan Indoor Netball Super League plays by the Indoor Netball Australia Rule Book.
NSW Superleague competitions may have additional rules that are implemented every session.
Additional rules are discussed & agreed upon at the start of every Superleague competition.
Note: Rules may be amended & penalties applied during the season if the committee deem it necessary. All centres are notified of amended rulings or penalties that may occur.
Any amendments will be dated and documented on this page.
Net Abuse: Penalty pass or shot. Therefore out of play for net abuse-
2010-2011 as per INA Rules - A Player can no longer put their hand through the goal net or ring to prevent a goal being scored.
If a players hand touches the goal netting the above Net abuse rule applies.
If a players hand enters up through the goal netting or ring a goal will be automatically awarded.
Additional Competition Rules to be read in conjunction with INA Rule Book
All Centres must field a Ladies 1 and Mixed 1 team to play in the competition.
All Centres must field a minimum of 5 Senior teams to play in the competition.
All Centres must field from the top grade down- therefore a centre can not field a Division 3 team if Division 1 and 2 is not fielded.
Centres can only field two teams in Mixed 1, Ladies 1 and Junior Grades.
Centres MUST submit their Centres Teams/Player forms by: Friday 19th August 2011.
A minimum of 8 players must be registered in every grade.
PLAYER GRADING & CENTRE TRANSFERS- (Also see Representative Players for additional rules)
Any team that won last year`s Summer League Metro Netball Competition and has (5) or more players from that team playing this year must go up a grade. This is at anytime during the competition it does not mean (5) in the 1 game at the same time. (Committees discretion)
Players Transfer/Clearance Forms are compulsory for any player wishing to represent a different centre then they last played Superleague with. (Netball and Cricket)
Player Clearance Forms must be filled in by the Centre requesting the player transfer and the centre granting the player transfer and submitted to ISNSW to be processed.
All Transfer/Clearance Forms must be processed by ISNSW prior to the commencement of the competition.
Players that start throughout the season that are changing centres must have their transfers processed by the Wednesday preceding the Saturday Round in order to be deemed valid.
A Player can only represent/play for 1 centre. Transfers/Clearance Forms may be submitted during a season but will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.
Any Centre or Player that has a debt with ISNSW is not permitted to participate in NSW Superleague competitions.
Payment plans can be organised with ISNSW and payed off during a season but must be organised before a Centre or Player participates in Superleague competitions.
The Committee have the right to re-grade any team they feel has not been graded appropriately at any stage .
Points
Win (4)

Loss 0
Loss on forfeit (-2) points
Win on forfeit team receives 3 points plus maximum skins and the maximum goals scored for that round and the minimum goals against (F/A) for that round.
Losing team in reverse, Maximum goals against & minimum goals for PLUS a deduction of (2) points.
Skins.
- (1) point is awarded for every quarter won.
- If the If the Quarter is tied the points carry over to the winner of the next quarter.
- If the last quarter is tied the points will be awarded to the winner of the previous skin
In the event of two teams finishing on equal points the team will be ranked in order of:
1. Highest number of wins, then draws
2. Highest number of skins
3. Highest goal average
Serious injury during a game - If a spare court is available the game should be moved.
If there is not a spare court to move the game to & the 3 Quarters of the game has been played the score stands. The last skin will be awarded to the winner of the previous skin.
Centre Coordinators must liaise & notify the committee as soon as possible if the above occurs.
If any team walks from the court before the end of the match, the game will be deemed a forfeit and 5 match points will be deducted from the offending team.
If a team has won on forfeit, all players that have played before the forfeit round has occurred will automatically qualify for that round.
Any new players that have signed onto the score-sheet on the day will also qualify.
Any team that Forfeits must pay a double game payment.

NOTE: A player must play 5 games in any 1 grade per competition to qualify for the finals.
Players may only play 4 games out of their registered grade in a higher grade.
If a 5th game is played that player will automatically go into the highest grade that they have played the most games in and can no longer play in their original grade or lower.
EG: a player has qualified (5 games) in Mixed 3, that player then plays:
1, Game in Mixed 1, & 1 game in Mixed 2 plus 3 games in Ladies 1 The said player must stay in Ladies 1 & can no longer play in any lower division.
Furthermore the said player is only qualified in Ladies 1 & too then be qualified in Mixed 1, must play (5) games in the Mixed 1 grade.
No player may play in a division lower than the grade they are registered in.
Penalty - Any team found playing a higher graded player will lose the game on forfeit and no players from the offending team will qualify for that game.
Representative Players
1. Any Person that has represented their State in Indoor Netball in the past 3 years, in Open Ladies or Mixed grades can play no lower than Div. 2 .
2. Any State League 1 player can play no lower than Div. 1
3. Any Person that has represented Australia i.e Toured in the past 2 years in any grade, can play no lower than Div 1.
4. Age players 21s, 18`s, 16s or Masters can play no lower than Division 4 - Rule 1, 2 and 3 must be applied.
5. Men's Indoor or Outdoor State players can play no lower than Div 3 (Rules 1and 3 must be applied)
6. Indoor Netball NSW has made it compulsory for all current State representative to be registered & qualify = 5 games in the Metropolitan Netball Competition.
Cut off Dates
Age a player is at, on the 31st December each year.
12 years and under boys can participate in Junior 12s & 14s competitions.
Player & Team Qualification & Registration
Centres must have (7) registered qualified players in each grade by the completion of all round games, ie before the start of the final series.
Failure to comply will see all teams from the offending centre moved up a grade. (Ladies, Mixed & Juniors)
Teams Can Register 14 Players in Ladies & 15 Players in Mixed of which 10 players only can be used in a game. (INA Rule 6.1 b)
In the Final series teams are allowed to use 12 Ladies & 13 Mixed qualified players. Players names do not need to be omitted in the final series unless they exceed the registered above totals.
During the season if centres want to register another player and there is already 14 Ladies or 15 Mixed player/s one must be omitted before a new player can be added.
Once a player is omitted they can take no further part in that said grade or lower grade.
If a player has been registered in a grade, that player must have played at least 1 game in that said grade. One week/round grace will be applied
Example- Registering a player in Mixed 4- Player plays up in Mixed 2 1st game and is it clearly stated on score sheet playing up from Mixed 4 but has not yet played a game in the Mixed 4s grade, that player will be given "(1) week/round grace to play a mixed 4 game.
Penalty: Any player/team found not following the above rule will have a deduction of (2) points against the team the player plays up into.
*2010-2011- Ruling relating to Centres having (2) Teams in one grade. (Mixed 1, Ladies 1 or Junior Grades ONLY)
A female player that is only registered either in a mixed grade or a ladies grade and fills in across grade, where there is (2) sides in the one division can only play across grade (3) times in (1) team and then must stay there.
Example: A centre may have (2) x Ladies Division 1 teams A & B , plus a (1) x Mixed 1. The Player is a registered Mixed 1 player and plays (2) x games in A & (3) x games in B, that player can no longer fill in for the A side.
Note: 5 games still must be played to Qualify in any 1 grade.
*2010-2011- Ruling relating to Junior Age Grade Players-12s & 14s
A Junior player that qualifies in their aged grade automatically qualifies in any Ladies & Mixed grade. A Junior player can also register and play in a senior team.
If a 12s or 14s player is registered in Juniors only, they can only fill in (3) times in the same division/grade and then can not fill in for any lower grade.
Example: Junior grade players can play (1) game in Mixed 4 & (2) games in Ladies 4 then the said player can fill in no lower then Division 4.
NOTE: Can still participate in their registered Junior Grade.
Players can play a maximum of (4) games on the one day.
Players can play no more then (2) games out of their registered grade on the one day.
Players can play in (1) game only, on (1) time-slot only.
Example: A player can not player the 1st Quarter on one court & then take part in a game on any other court at the same time-slot.
Final Series Player Qualification
· A player must play in (5) games in any (1) grade to qualify.
· A player who has qualified for a grade automatically qualifies for any higher grade.
· Players who play in ladies and mixed must qualify in each grade to play in the finals.
Players may only play in one grade EXCEPT Ladies playing in mixed and ladies teams may play both as long as they are equal divisions & have qualified in both grades.
Once a player has played a final in any of their qualified grades, Ladies or Mixed they are not permitted to take part in any other grades on that day.
In Finals players must sign-on at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to the commencement of the game
Any player wishing to play whose name does not appear on the official qualified player listing must question if they are eligible to play at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to commencement of the game.
Any players that do not question their eligibility to play at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to commencement of the game will NOT be allowed to take the court.
If teams are aware of a qualified player that will be arriving late to the game, the coordinator must notify the sign on official no later than (15) minutes prior to the start of the game.
Furthermore that player must see the sign-on official prior to entering the court.
Any team found to be playing a player not qualified for any length of time will lose on forfeit.
INJURY TIME IN FINAL SERIES
Injury time will be played in all semi final series games.
Injury time is only ever taken and played in the last Quarter of the game.
A maximum of 2 minutes per player per injury.
Discipline
Any player that is "sent off" court during a game will receive an automatic (1) week suspension & may face further action by the indoor netball committee or ISNSW Board.
An Automatic 5 Point deduction can be applied to any team that breaks any of the Metropolitan Super League Netball Rules. Further Penalties can also be applied depending on the severity.
Uniform Rules - will be applied from round 3
To be read in conjunction with Rule 1.4 - (3)Goal Penalty per player.
This rule will be applied at the commencement of the game by the umpires or before the start of the 2nd quarter or if a new player takes the court after half time.
The umpire must notify both team captains, allowing the team to change uniform or players before the infringement is applied.
The umpires must clearly mark the additional points onto the score-sheet and sign.
The Umpires are required to advise the centre representative before or after the game of any action that was taken.
If overlooked by the umpires the non-offending team captain or centre representative should approach the umpire at the break before the set time to apply the rule. (Discretion to be applied)
A Maximum of 9 point deduction or 3 players will apply
- Skins can be worn under uniforms.
- Mixed teams/Players have the option to wear the men's or ladies style uniform.
*AS of 2010 to 2011 season all teams from all centres must be fitted in full centre uniforms.
See below for examples of "same" uniform. Centres will be strongly in-forcing uniform penalties.
- Black shorts all above knee not long shorts & hot pants.
- Teams can not wear half shorts & half tights/all must be the same
- Shirts all the same Not different colour collars, sleeves etc.
Nails & Jewellery
To be read in conjunction with Rule 1.4g and 1.4f
No tapping of nails allowed - Gloves only are permitted
To be read in conjunction with Rule 12
Signing On
To be read in conjunction with Rule 2.4
If a player fails to sign onto the score-sheet, when filling in for a higher grade, the offending team will be penalised a deduction of (2) points per player.
Centre Netball coordinators have the right to write a player onto the score-sheet from another centre if they have not done so. Centre co-coordinators must liaise.
In order to qualify in any given game a player must sign onto the score-sheet & be in their playing uniform & legitimately ready to take the court.
Any Score sheet that is submitted with less than 7 players signed on with no explanation clearly stated will lose (1) point for every player with a maximum of (7) points.
If a team is short the coordinators must sign off on that score-sheet.
Any player/participant in a match must sign onto the score-sheet.
Failure to do so will incur a (1) point deduction(from points table) for every player not signed.
Recommended Times
Home centres should liaise with opposition centres ten days prior to scheduled date regarding game times.
Game times should be faxed through to opposition centre who should sign and return as an agreement of times
If centres cannot come to an agreement of times the hosting centres recommended time will apply.
Recommended Game Times 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm & 8pm
If a centre has 2 teams in one grade there must be at least a 15 minute break between games.
This rule can also apply to to Mixed & ladies grades e.g Ladies 1 playing in Mixed 1 on request.
All centres must provide 1 umpire per game on a home & away basis.
If centres can not supply umpires for every time-slot they must liaise with the opposing centre asap
Deferment Of Games
THERE WILL BE NO DEFERRED GAMES.
Games can be played before the set date but never after.
The exception to this rule is for nationals -
Any team that has 4 or more players away competing at Nationals or Junior Development will be allowed to have their games rescheduled.
Centres must fax the players name and team to Liverpool by round 3 if they are affected.
In the event that temperatures reach over 40 degrees inside the centre which is hosting-
Centre Co-Ordinators must liaise- Centres have the option to play 4 times 10minute Quarters with 5 minute breaks.
No team should presume games are cancelled without conformation from both centre Coordinators.
All teams must pay their match fee in full before the commencement of the game. Short payments are not acceptable
Centres that do not fax or email Results sheets & score-sheets to the relevant address will receive a warning the 1st time. Re-offending centres will have (1) point deducted from every team including club championship points.
Any further occurrences will be automatic deductions & clearly marked on Centres results on the ISNSW website.
A (2) point deduction also applies to centres not complying with Registration and Round Fee payments.
